NASDPTS Members, Please see below a message from the American School Bus Council’s public relations agency, Burson-Marsteller, regarding the upcoming Love The Bus month and related activities. ASBC is looking for states and/or school districts to feature and assist with their Love The Bus activities. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the newsletter or ASBC activities. Enjoy the season, Bob Burson-Marsteller Message Although February seems far off, it’s not long before we are celebrating Love the Bus month! LTB 2010 will be an exciting opportunity to reinforce the important messages about the benefits of school buses, continue to encourage bus ridership and invite teachers, parents and students to take a moment to thank their local bus driver for all they do. But…we need your help! Our Public Relations agency plans to select 3-5 school districts across America that will receive special media attention for their Love the Bus activities. Could it be your district or your school that makes headlines this year? We’d love to know what you have planned for Love the Bus month. We might even be able to augment your current activities with programming components that will boost the news value of your activities and help secure media coverage. Please send us an email with your event plans and let us know how you are celebrating LTB 2010. · Do you have celebratory and/or educational events planned? If so, what takes place at these events and how many students will be involved in the activities? · Do you have an awards program in place for school bus drivers during this time? If so, how many drivers will you recognize, what’s the criteria and what does your awards ceremony look like? · Does your district have school bus drivers with noteworthy stories or histories of service who we can highlight? · Are your students creating something special to honor their school bus drivers? If this is the case, what will they be creating, will they be doing so on one particular day and how will they deliver it to the drivers? Sooner is always better, but we’re asking to hear from you before January 9th. We want to make this the most successful Love the Bus ever and we hope you will help us to do just that.
